Hello. I am hoping that someone can help me decide if the Spring framework is a good option for me. Here is some background. I work at a university and develop pl/sql programs for automating financial aid state awards. There have been major changes implemented which will require a program rewrite. I have a programming background in java. I think this is a good opportunity to rewrite the program utilizing OOP. Currently, no java development environment exists. This program will rely heavily as a CRUD application with output report. My question is does Spring sound like a good fit? I think it would be beneficial to reduce the JDBC confusion that accompanies plain java. Is this framework used mainly for MVC or web apps? I've also looked at coupling with Hibernate. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
